Human Rights & Business

Businesses have the potential to generate jobs, revenue, innovation, goods, and services that contribute to the realisation of human rights. However, businesses whether multinational or local, private or public, also pose risks of negative impacts on individuals and communities.

The Danish Institute for Human Rights has worked for many years to clarify responsibilities of businesses and strengthen business respect for human rights through promoting the implementation of international standards such as the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct. 

In essence, the Institute's work embodies the global expectation for businesses to respect human rights, paving the way for a future where economic activities and human rights go hand in hand.  

By addressing two common myths in the video below, department director for Human Rights and Business, Elin Wrzoncki, and chief adviser Signe Andreasen Lysgaard, will elaborate on why human rights are important within business practices.
